Open letter to Viktor Rashnikov

Dear Mr. Rashnikov,

You do not know me but I would like to approach you in an important matter. I and my family (husband and a 13-year-old son) are currently on holiday in Phuket, Thailand. We have been in awe from admiration for your super yacht Ocean Victory which is currently parked just outside Patong beach and to which we have a great view from our (somewhat shabby) hotel Novotel Phuket Resort, the one up on the hill.

We have googled and found out that the Ocean Victory is the nineth largest privately owned motor yacht to date. It has seven decks, six pools, an in-built floatable area for another boat, 300-square-meter-large spa area, helicopter landing place and a movie theater. I am convinced it has many other good qualities not referred to in the internet. I know you had wanted to keep the building of the yacht a secret to a large extent but as it happens, now its whereabouts are reported in the internet as many people, like ourselves, are fascinated by the ship and welcome the sight of it anywhere it goes. We drove past it yesterday on a long-tail boat on our way to (somewhat shabby) Freedom Beach and had a good look of it. It is truly magnificent.

The reason I am writing to you is that I would like to offer my services to you as a chief of cabin staff, logistics coordinator, maid or basically any position with work location based on Ocean Victory. I am not very familiar with steel industry where I believe you excel based on the cited income but I have a 15+ years of experience from international business environment - which frankly speaking has seen its ups and downs - in various positions ranging from communications specialist to IT service owner and team lead. I am confident I would be a perfect match for your Ocean Victory staff in so many ways.

My husband, too, is a highly qualified man with a super career. If ever you would like to have another yacht built, my husband would make an unparalelled project manager. My son has excellent English and swimming skills, and we would be happy to put him to any good international school close to a harbor often visited by Ocean Victory.

As for the salary and other benefits, we have no high demands. We would merely like to permanently live on the Ocean Victory, maybe not in the lowest deck but second but lowest would be fine with the entitlement to visit the upper decks from time to time as well as use the pools when the ship is not occupied by your family and friends. Once or twice a year it would be great to invite our mothers to visit. We also require a confirmation that the Ocean Victory is sailing at least nine months of the year in areas where the temperature never drops below 20 degrees of Celsius.

I wish you do not consider my letter rude or offensive in any way but take it as a sign of humble admiration and respect for you and your mighty ship Ocean Victory.

We look forward to being contacted by your staff in the near future. Telling more about ourselves and how we can benefit you is best done over a face-to-face interview. We are staying in Phuket for another five days so we would be happy to receive an invitation onboard very soon.

Best regards
TP
